The UKATA Asbestos awareness training course is to provide anyone who could come into contact with materials containing asbestos as part of their day to day working duties, with suitable asbestos training so that they are aware of the potential dangers they may face. Also the procedures to be followed in the event that they are working in the vicinity of asbestos containing materials. (ACMs) as stated in regulation 10 of the control of asbestos regulations 2012 (CAR 2012). UKATA (United Kingdom Training Association) sets standards in asbestos training and ensures that its members meet these standards.

There is an open book theory assessment with multiple choice questions at the end of the UKATA Asbestos Awareness course. Yes, it is a legal requirement that all who may come across asbestos in their day to day work must have been provided with asbestos awareness training. Appropriate training specific to the tasks you will undertake should be given if you intentionally work on asbestos.
