Course Summary

The Fit to Face Mask Testing course is designed to provide those who require to wear half or full face masks with the knowledge on how to test the safe fitting of them.

The Face Fit Testing course includes:

  •     Background to Face Fit Testing
  •     Legislation and guidance, HSE282/28
  •     Complete strip down and manual clean prior to testing
  •     Perishable parts replaced at each service
  •     Inward leakge test on mask
  •     Motor and battery electrically tested
  •     Estimate for repair or replacement parts
  •     Service and test certificate issued

There is no formal assessment for this course. Delegates who successfully complete the Fit to Face Mask Testing course in full will receive a Certificate of Training along with an ID card which is valid for 3 years.

Who is it for?

Everyone who is required to wear any type of Respiratory Protective Equipment in the workplace must be face fit tested to ensure correct fitting and protection against any substances which could potentially be hazardous to health. Quantitative testing is for any person who wears a full-face self contained respiratory mark and this includes breathing apparatus. Qualitative testing is for any person who wears a half mask, albeit, some half-face masks may also require a Quantitative test.

Am I going to feel safe during my course participation?

Beside the fact that our staff and the environment of the school will make you feel happy and safe, CCTV is operating in most of the school’s areas.

I’m getting on a bit, is it like going back to school and will I feel out of place?

Not at all. A large percentage of our learners are mature students simply keeping up to date with current standards. Everybody is made to feel welcome in the centre.

Do I need to be clean shaven for a Breathing Apparatus exercise?

To get a good seal around the face it is recommended that delegates who use full working set breathing apparatus or similiar masks are clean shaven.  We do not insist on being clean shaven as you will be training with no real risk, however, your employer or supervisor may insist on you being clean shaven.
