Course Summary

The RTITB Forklift Instructor course will provide everything your instructor will need to train Forklift Operators to the highest standard.

The RTITB Forklift Instructor course will include:-

  •     Session planning
  •     Session delivery
  •     Feeback to operators
  •     Working within RTITB guidelines
  •     Safe working practices

The exam will consist of three elements which are:-

Test of Basic Operating Skills (Practical test to instructor standard - maximum 25 penalties). This is usually carried out on the first day of the course by the course tutor.
RTITB Examination of Practical Instructional Ability (Approx 40 mins) Delegates must score a minimum of 70 from a maximum of 100 to pass this element. This examination is usually carried out on the final day of the course and is conducted by an independent RTITB examiner.
RTITB Examination of Instructor Associated knowledge (approx 20 mins). A minimum of 80% must be acheived to pass this element. This examination is usually carried out on the final day of the of the course and is conducted by an independent RTITB examiner.

All three elements must be successfully completed to acheive an overall pass and qualify as a Lift Truck Instructor.

Successful candidates can then register on the RTITB National Register of Instructors 'The Professional Register', for a period of 5 years.

Who is it for?

Operators who wish to become Instructors on Forklift Trucks.

  •     Protective glasses
  •     High-vis vest
  •     Gloves
Your skill level

Candidates require to be forklift truck operators with strong written and verbal skills. Good communication skills are essential.
Candidates will need to provide evidence of successfully completing the Basic Operating Skills Test on a Counterbalance and Reach Truck in the preceding 12 months.
It is highly recommended that candidates have at least 6 months operating experience.

Yes, there are a lot of FREE car parking spaces available in the area.

What accommodation is available?

There are a variety of hotels and B & B’s in the area. There is a list available to assist you with booking your stay.

Am I going to feel safe during my course participation?

Beside the fact that our staff and the environment of the school will make you feel happy and safe, CCTV is operating in most of the school’s areas.

I’m getting on a bit, is it like going back to school and will I feel out of place?

Not at all. A large percentage of our learners are mature students simply keeping up to date with current standards. Everybody is made to feel welcome in the centre.
