Course Summary

This course is ideal for anyone working in the electrical industry that needs to prove they are up to date with the latest IEE wiring regulations.

This is a 3-day classroom-based course designed to bring you up to speed with the latest IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

You will learn all the key regulations that you will find in day to day installations, as well as understand how to reference your regs book for the more obscure ones. The course then culminates in a City & Guilds 60 question open book multiple choice exam which allows 2 minutes to answer each question.

Units covered over the duration of the course include:

  • Part 1 – Scope, object and fundamental principles
  • Part 2 – Definitions
  • Part 3 – Assessment of general characteristics
  • Part 4 – Protection for safety
  • Part 5 – Selection and erection of equipment
  • Part 6 – Inspection and testing
  • Part 7 – Special installations or locations
  • Part 8 – Appendices

It will also cover the main changes from the previous 17th Edition to the 18th Edition these also include:

  • Protection against over voltages
  • Electrical embedded heating
  • Protection against fire
  • Energy efficiency

 

Upon successful completion of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Course, you will receive an approved City & Guilds 2382-18 Certificate.

This is an open book exam on the third day.

Who is it for?

Electricians, electrical engineers, contracts managers, designers, consultants, surveyors and other related trades who are in maintenance or contracting roles and that are required to undertake electrical duties would highly benefit from this training course.

You will need
  • Candidates may bring a copy of IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671-2018) Requirements for Electrical Installations book.
  • A simple calculator (programmable calculator or Smart Phone are not allowed) and note taking material are highly recommended.
  • You may wish to bring your own highlighting pens and/or book marks or post-it notes with chapter numbering written on them only to aid your learning and understanding of the regulations.
  • No written notes of any description or question and answer sheets are allowed.
Your skill level

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. As a general rule, candidates should have knowledge of electrical installations and electrical science.

All candidates must be 16 years or over.

No we have a number of books that students can use for the duration of both the courses and exam. However, many students benefit from having their own publication for private study.
