Abraisive Wheels:
The aim of this course is to train people in the skills and knowledge needed to achieve the standards of competency required to carry out the pre-use inspection and safe and correct fitting of abrasive wheels in the workplace.

Portable Power Tools:
The aim of this course is to train people in the skills and knowledge needed to achieve the standards of competency required to carry out pre-use inspection and safe and correct use of Portable Power Tools in the workplace.

The Abrasive Wheels training course consists of theory instruction including:-

  • Statutory Instruments & Standards
  • Types of Wheels
  • Analysis of Accidents
  • Wheel Markings and BS Marking System
  • Wheel Components and Manufacture
  • Storage, Handling and Transportation
  • Methods of Testing
  • Blotters, Flanges and Locknuts
  • Wheel Dressing and Adjustment of Rest
  • Machine Inspections
  • Personal Protective Equipment requirements
  • Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and Noise at Work
  • Written Test Paper
  • Practical Sessions / Appraisals

The Portable Power Tools training course consist of a theory instruction including:-

  • Statutory Instruments & Standards
  • Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work
  • Analysis of Accidents
  • Safeguarding of Machinery at Work (FIATT)
  • Pre Use Inspections
  • Safe operation of hand operated power tools, including Hazards and Precautions
  • After Use Checks
  • Equipment Inspection, Testing and Maintenance requirements
  • Personal Protective Equipment requirements
  • Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and Noise at Work
  • Written Test Paper
  • Appraisals

 

You will receive a Certificate of Completion after successful completion.

Am I going to feel safe during my course participation?

Beside the fact that our staff and the environment of the school will make you feel happy and safe, CCTV is operating in most of the school’s areas

An Abrasive Wheel is a cylinder, disk, wheel or cone which has abrasive particles designed to grind, cut, polish, etc.

Who needs to attend an Abrasive Wheel course?

Personnel who engage in inspecting or mounting abrasive wheels would benefit this course.

Who is the Accrediting Body?

None. This is a Non-Accredited course.

Does my portable electric equipment have to be tested every year?

No, it is not a legal requirement to test your equipment every year, but the Electricity at Work Regulations require that any equipment which may cause injury must be maintained in a safe condition.
