FAQs

I’ve got a “Blue Book” so do I still need to do the training and assessment?

If you had chainsaw training several years ago, you may have been given a “Blue Book” that your assessor will have signed the relevant section to indicate that you were competent with the task.  However, things have changed and the “Blue Book” was withdrawn and owners of these books were requested to present them to NPTC to transfer their certificates.  There was a grace period allowed,  however, this has long since passed.  Please note that if you still have a “Blue Book” it is no longer recognised and your entitlement will no longer be valid.  If this is the case, you would be required to complete the Level 2 Award Assessments.

I’ve had my tickets for years and never had an accident, but my manager has stated that I have to do this course, why?

It is fair to say that you will have plenty of experience but your manager is correct to put you forward for this course as it will give you an opportunity to brush up on your skills and  knowledge, not to mention that if you use a chainsaw professionally then you will need to pass an assessment to prove your competence in line with the Approved Code of Practice.

Am I going to feel safe during my course participation?

Beside the fact that our staff and the environment of the school will make you feel happy and safe, CCTV is operating in most of the school’s areas.
