Course Summary

The course is a 3 day programme of intense training on the use and understanding of the IATA Regulations, which will conclude with an exam set in accordance with CAA requirements/standards.

Day 1:

  •     Course registration / introduction
  •     Introduction of the various regulation (UN, ICAO,IATA,UK ANDGR)
  •     Applicability of the IATA Regulations for to both Shippers and Operators
  •     The UN Classification system
  •     Understanding the various limitations placed on both Shipper and Operators
  •     Identification of Dangerous Goods, to include goods Not Otherwise Specified (NOS)

Day 2:

  •     Dealing with mixtures and solutions of Dangerous Goods
  •     The use of packing instructions
  •     Recognition of the United Nations packaging system
  •     Marking and labelling Dangerous Goods shipments
  •     The completion of Dangerous Goods documentation

Day 3

  • The Operators (HLO) responsibilities when checking consignments of Dangerous Goods in accordance with section 9 of the IATA Regulations
  • Examination (PM)

On successful completion of the course, delegates will be awarded with a certificate, which will include the CAA embossment.

Who is it for?

To provide in depth training to both Material Controllers and Helideck Landing Officers, working within the oil and gas industry. The course may also be tailored around non oil and gas sectors.

You will need to come along with 2 forms of photographic identification (passport, driving licence, vantage card).

Your skill level

The course is designed for both first time students and those requiring their 2 yearly refresher training (CAA mandatory requirement).

There are a variety of hotels and B & B’s in the area. There is a list available to assist you with booking your stay.

Am I going to feel safe during my course participation?

Beside the fact that our staff and the environment of the school will make you feel happy and safe, CCTV is operating in most of the school’s areas.

I’m getting on a bit, is it like going back to school and will I feel out of place?

Not at all. A large percentage of our learners are mature students simply keeping up to date with current standards. Everybody is made to feel welcome in the centre.
