The CPCS Fixed Crane Operator course will provide practical and theory training for delegates to operate and maintain tower cranes safely.
The CPCS Fixed Crane Operator course content is as follows:-
- Operate the crane safely and productively
- Responding to recognised crane signals
- Deciding wether a particulat load is within the capacity of the crane
- Minor adjustments/routine maintenance/fault finding procedures/rectifying faults
- Capabilities of equipment/relevant safety precaustions including out-of-service precaution
- How the machine is operatored and controlled
- The purpose and method of operation of safe-load indicators and overload
- Warning devices
- The effect of the working radius on the lifting capacity of the machine
- The purpose of counterweights, how to secure, check and maintain them
- The effect of shock loading on the structural strength of the crane and its stability
- Prinicples of safe slinging/types and capacities of lifting gear/security and balance of load
- How to operate the crane to the direction of a signaller using recognisable signals
- The statutory regulations in respect of lifting equipment/the operator’s own legal responsibilities
Successful candidates will be awarded a Red CPCS Trained Operator Card.

Your skill level
Delegates attending this course should be 18+ years old and be physically and mentally fit to withstand the rigours of training. Delegates are required to have passed the CSCS Health and Safety Test prior to attending this course. It is also crucial that trainees do not suffer from vertigo to the extent they cannot carry out the activities required.
