Course Summary
The NEBOSH National Construction Certificate provides a broad understanding of the general health and safety issues that affect construction activities and enables risks to be managed effectively. As well as covering a range of construction workplace hazards and methods of control, it includes the legal system in the UK and legislation relating to the management of health and safety at work.
The NEBOSH National Construction Certificate covers the main legal requirements for construction health and safety in the UK, identification and control of construction workplace hazards, and the practical application of this knowledge. This is reflected in the three units that comprise the qualification:

- Foundations in health and safety
- Health and safety management – policy
- Health and safety management – organising
- Health and safety management – planning
- Health and safety management – measuring, audit and review
- Unit NCC1 – Managing and Controlling Hazards in Construction Activities
- Construction law and management
- Construction site – hazard and risk control
- Vehicle and plant movement – hazards and risk control
- Musculoskeletal hazards and risk control
- Work equipment – hazards and risk control
- Electrical Safety
- Fire Safety
- Chemical and biological health – hazards and risk control
- Physical and psychological health – hazards and risk control
- Work at height – hazards and risk control
- Excavation work and confined spaces – hazards and risk control
- Demonlition and deconstruction – hazards and risk control
- Unit NCG2 – Construction Health and Safety Practical Application
- A workplace-based practical assignment that covers the application of understanding related to units NGC1 and NCC1.
The qualification is divided into 3 assessed units, each of which is assessed seperately. Assessment is by 2 written examinations and a work based practical examination. All units must be completed within 5 years to acheive the full NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety.
You are not required to take any equipment with you on the National Construction Certificate course.
Personnel who wish to have a career in health and safety, or managers and supervisors may undergo NEBOSH training.
