A NEBOSH Diploma is the qualification for aspiring health and safety professionals, building directly upon the foundation of knowledge provided by the NEBOSH General Certificate. It is designed to provide students with the expertise required to undertake a career as a safety and health practitioner and also provides a sound basis for progression to postgraduate study.
Course Summary
The NEBOSH National Diploma provides the core health and safety knowledge (transferable across industry, commerce and the public sector) which, combined with understanding and appropriate application, underpins the competent performance of an occupational health and safety practitioner.
The NEBOSH Diploma qualification is divided into four units, each of which is assessed seperately:
Unit A – Managing health and safety
Unit B – Hazardous agents in the workplace
Unit C – Work equipment and workplace safety
Unit D – Application of health and safety theory and practice
Units A, B and C are each assessed by a 3 hour exam held on nationally set days in January and July each year. Unit D is assessed by an 8,000 word workplace-based project which is submitted to NEBOSH in March or September of each year. You can take your exams together or spread them over a period, but to achieve the full NEBOSH Diploma qualification all units must be completed within 5 years of enrolment. We recommend exams are taken together following the course.
You are not required to take any equipment with you on the NEBOSH National Diploma course.
There are no formal entry requirements for the NEBOSH National Diploma, however, candidates should consider that this is professional level qualification, approximately equivalent to Level 6 (degree level). Achievement of the NEBOSH General Certificate or direct equivalent prior to undertaking this Diploma course is highly recommended.
