Harness Inspection - Training Plus - Health & Safety Courses

Half day

The Training Plus Harness Inspection Course is designed for candidates who use, supervise or manage the use of MEWPS (mobile elevating work platforms), scissor lifts, cherry pickers and access platforms including PAVs (Push Around Verticals).

The Harness Inspection Course consists of both theory and practical instruction

  •     Health and safety at work legislation and regulations
  •     Selecting fall arrest and restraint equipment
  •     Traceability
  •     CE marketings
  •     Correct fitting of harnesses
  •     Shock absorbing lanyards and fall arrest blocks
  •     Anchor points and connectors
  •     Care, storage and maintenance of equipment
  •     Inspection of harness per each individual
  •     Manufacturers instruction manual MIM and associated paperwork

Any personnel who are required to carry out thorough examinations of harnesses and lanyards as a designated experienced person.

  •     Safety harness – you can buy one on request
  •     Hard hat
  •     Steel capped boots
  •     Safety glasses

No formal qualification or experience is necessary, but it would be beneficial if delegates had a basic understanding of the working at height regulations and health and safety at work act 1974.

What accommodation is available?

There are a variety of hotels and B & B’s in the area. There is a list available to assist you with booking your stay.

Am I going to feel safe during my course participation?

Beside the fact that our staff and the environment of the school will make you feel happy and safe, CCTV is operating in most of the school’s areas.

I’m getting on a bit, is it like going back to school and will I feel out of place?

Not at all. A large percentage of our learners are mature students simply keeping up to date with current standards. Everybody is made to feel welcome in the centre.

Can candidates who have never used a Harness participate in the operator course?

Yes.

The Certification

At the end of the Harness Inspection Course you will take a short theory and practical assessment which, after successful completion will provide you with the essential knowledge and insight into the design, testing and manufacturing processes, together with the skills to test damaged equipment. Furthermore, this course will provide you with the correct legislation, guidance, standards and best practice to allow you to design an examination process and inspection report for all common work at height equipment.
