4- 5 days practical training for C1 Licence and C Licence. 8 -10 days practical training for C1+E Licence and C+E Licence. Heavy Good Vehicle Licensed

Course Summary

HGV Driver Training is split into 4 different categories depending on the type of vehicle you wish to obtain a licence for;

C1 License -Vehicles weighing between 3,500 kg and 7,500 kg, with or without a trailer – weighing no more than 750 kg.
C1 + E Licence -As category C but with a trailer over 750 kg.
C Licence - Vehicles over 3,500 kg, with a trailer up to 750 kg.
C + E Licence - As category C1 but with a trailer weighing more than 750 kg. The total weight of the vehicle and the trailer together can't weigh more than 12,000 kg.

Candidates receive guided practical instruction in a rigid or articulated vehicle covering all aspects of driving large goods vehicles in preparation for the DVSA HGV driving test.

Course Content

  •     Practical driving solo-tuition to the DVSA standard
  •     Theoretical aspects of driving a medium/large goods vehicle
  •     Initial Tachograph and Drivers Hours tuition
  •     Practical tuition for the DVSA Reversing exercise.

 

On passing the test you are licensed to drive any Heavy Good Vehicles.

Who is it for?

This qualification is for people who wish to gain a driving licence to be able to work as a heavy goods vehicle driver.

No safety equipment is required in order to take the HGV Driver training course.

Your skill level

Candidates must be 18 years of age, hold a valid car licence and be certified medically fit.

FAQs

Do I need to bring my driving licence to the assessment?

Yes you must bring both parts of your driving licence to the assessment.

How long will my HGV entitlement last?

You will retain HGV entitlement till you are 45 years of age however you will be required to ‘renew’ your vocational licence every 5 years. To renew you will need to sign a declaration to confirm you are fit and healthy to drive a commercial vehicle. Once you reach 45 point you must pass a medical (and every 5 years thereafter) to confirm you are physically able to drive an HGV professionally.

Do I need to pay for my training before I do it?

Are there any car parking spaces available?

Yes, there are a lot of FREE car parking spaces available in the area.

What accommodation is available?

There are a variety of hotels and B & B’s in the area. There is a list available to assist you with booking your stay.

Am I going to feel safe during my course participation?

Beside the fact that our staff and the environment of the school will make you feel happy and safe, CCTV is operating in most of the school’s areas.

I’m getting on a bit, is it like going back to school and will I feel out of place?

Not at all. A large percentage of our learners are mature students simply keeping up to date with current standards. Everybody is made to feel welcome in the centre.
