Course Summary

The HIAB lorry loader course is designed to provide candidates with the knowledge and skills required in order to operate a lorry loader.

The HiAb lorry loader course consists of both theory and practical instruction including:

  •     An introduction to the construction industry
  •     PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations)
  •     LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations)
  •     HSWA (Health and Safety at Work Act)
  •     Introduction to the hoist
  •     Carrying out pre-shift inspections
  •     Instruments and controls
  •     Main types of lorry loaders and its components
  •     Loading and unloading the bed of the lorry using the loader

Upon successful completion of the CPCS technical test for lorry loader training, candidates are entitled to a CPCS red trained operator card.

Beside the fact that our staff and the environment of the school will make you feel happy and safe, CCTV is operating in most of the school’s areas.

I’m getting on a bit, is it like going back to school and will I feel out of place?

Not at all. A large percentage of our learners are mature students simply keeping up to date with current standards. Everybody is made to feel welcome in the centre.
