The SMSTS refresher course aims to refresh your understanding of your key responsibilities and accountability for site safety, health, welfare and the environment to enable you to provide healthy and safe working conditions.
The SMSTS refresher training course consists of theory instruction including:
- CDM Regulations
- Site Set up
- Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- Risk assessments and method statements
- Confined spaces
- Changes in accepted working practices and other construction topics
Site managers, project managers and client based personnel would benefit from the SMSTS refresher training course.
No PPE is required for the SMSTS refresher training course.
You must currently hold a valid Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate, which has been gained in the last five years.
Do I need to pay for my training before I do it?

My ticket is due to expire, how long do I have to renew it?
From the date of expiry, you have six months to complete an SMSTS refresher course.
Is the SMSTS course recognised by the HSE?
Yes, the SMSTS training course is an accredited course which, after successful completion, will entitle you to an industry recognised CITB (Council and Industry Training) Certificate.
When do I receive my certificate after I pass?
Certificates are issued by CITB (Construction Industry Training Board / Construction Skills). It can take between 4 ? 8 weeks for the certificate to arrive. Certificates arrive by post.
At the end of the SMSTS refresher training course, you will take a short theory test. Upon successful completion of the SMSTS course, you will receive an industry recognised CITB certificate which is valid for five years. Established in 1974, the Construction Industry Training Board is the Training Board for the construction trade in the UK.
