Course Summary

The IPAF PAL+ Resit Course is available within 20 working days of failing the IPAF PAL+ course.

The IPAF PAL+ Resit Course consists of the practical instruction which includes:

  •     Understand and apply correct starting procedure
  •     Identify proximity of all hazards both overhead and others
  •     Travel machine with platform in correct position
  •     Correctly position machine in relation to the task
  •     Deploy stabilisers and level machine
  •     Stow tools/equipment safely on platform
  •     Use safety harness
  •     Raise and lower platform correctly
  •     Slew and travel correctly
  •     Mount and dismount the machine correctly

A resit of the practical assessment will take place and after successful completion you will receive a new PAL card showing the relevant categories for which PAL+ was received.

Who is it for?

Operators who work in a higher risk environment e.g. steel work or overhead confined spaces would benefit from taking the IPAF PAL+ course. Getting the added ‘+’ on your PAL card will prove that you can demonstrate your ability of operating powered access in a challenging environment.

Candidates will be required to bring suitable PPE with them on this course:

  • Safety harness
  • Hard hat
  • Steel capped boots
  • High visibility vest
  • Safety gloves

Operators who currently have an IPAF qualification in the relevant category may take the IPAF PAL+ course.

Do I need to pay for my training before I do it?

Who is the Accrediting Body?

IPAF – International Powered Access Federation.

IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) is a non profit organisation dedicated to promoting the safe and effective use of powered access worldwide.

What is a PAL card?

IPAF’s PAL Card (Powered Access License) is the proof provided to all persons who successfully complete training and testing on an IPAF machine-based course.

How do I a category to my IPAF Card?

If operators want to add a category to their PAL Card, they need to successfully complete the IPAF approved Theory Test Paper. In addition to this, they must achieve the required standard when operating each of the machine categories that they wish to add on to their PAL Card.

If demonstrators want to add a category to their PAL Card, they must do the operator theory test and practical test on that category, then do the demonstrator course

Can IPAF training be done on site?

Who keeps the card + certificate?

IPAF suggests that the operator should have the issued card on his/her person at all times when working with MEWPs and the employer should keep the certificate.
