Course Summary

To provide Drivers with the instruction required by the Department of Transport to pass the Scottish Qualifications Authority examinations in order to obtain their vocational training certificate (commonly known as the ADR licence).
The course aims to give drivers of dangerous goods theoretical and practical training in the basic regulations government the carriage of dangerous goods by road, the classes of dangerous goods, emergency response, first aid, fire fighting, operational procedures, handling, loading, unloading and equipment.
This course, the examinations and the tutor are regulated by the Department for Transport and Scottish Qualifications Authority.
To provide training which counts towards Driver CPC training hours as per DSA requirements.

This course is aimed at:

  • Requiring initial training to obtain their Vocational Training Certificate (VTC)
  • Holding a VTC but wishing to add new modules
  • Holding a VTC and resitting modules
  • Holding a VTC and wishing to take refresher training before expiry of their VTC

 

 

Certificates awarded after successful completion of the course will be valid for a five year period after which re-certification must take place.

Drivers of dangerous goods.

You will need

Refresher candidates must have a VTC that has validity of not more than 12 months and no less than 4 weeks at the date of examination. Please allow approximately 4 weeks for examination marking.
Attendance on an ADR training course should be taken into account when calculating driver’s hours.

The candidate must:

  • attend the entire course
  • adhere to course content and demonstrate the required practical application techniques

Candidates are not required to bring any equipment to this course.

Can you cater for students with special needs?

Yes, but as with all special requirements that differ from the norm, please make us aware of your requirements and we will do our best to provide the appropriate support.

Are there any car parking spaces available?

Yes, there are a lot of FREE car parking space available in the area.

What accommodation is available?

There are a variety of hotels and B&B’s in the area. There is a list available to assist you with booking your stay.

Am  I going to feel safe during my course participation?

Beside the fact that our staff and the environment of the school will make you feel happy and safe, CCTV is operating in most of the school’s areas.

I’m getting on a bit, is it like going back to school and will I feel out of place?

Not at all.  A large percentage of our learners are mature students simply keeping up to date with current standards.  Everybody is made to feel welcome in the centre.
