Any employee who may be required to sling and lift workplace equipment as part of their normal work activities.
Course Summary
The Slinger and Lifting course is to provide selected delegates with a basic underpinning knowledge of lifting and slinging to enable them to carry out their lifting operations in accordance with statutory requirements and without risk to health.
The Slinger and Lifting course content is quite substantial and covers the following areas:
- Current legislation
- Downrating of Lifting Equipment
- Equipment selection
- Hand signals
- Safe use of general lifting equipment
- Sling configurations
- Pre-use inspection of general lifting equipment
Upon successful completion of the Slinger and Lifting course including a theory and practical test, candidates will be awarded with a Certificate of Attendance which aids in addressing the various legislative requirements placed upon employers to ensure their employees are competent. The course includes a substantial handout for future reference and workbook examples which are completed during the course.
Candidates are required to bring suitable PPE with them on this course:
- Hard hat
- Steel toe capped boots
- High vis vest
- Safety gloves
- Safety glasses

I’m getting on a bit, is it like going back to school and will I feel out of place?
Not at all. A large percentage of our learners are mature students simply keeping up to date with current standards. Everybody is made to feel welcome in the centre.
